Default coolant plug at the rear of the head?

This may seem like a dumb question but, I have a set of 706 heads on my build that I just fired up today. As I was pouting in coolant is was leaking by the rear of the drivers head. As I felt around the rear of the head I could feel the coolant coming from a hole at the rear of the head (facing the firewall). Is there supposed to be some sort of plug back there?

There's a freeze plug on either end of the head.

Freeze plug is bone dry. Something back there is leaking as I'm putting coolant in. Like a stream. I would imagine the head gasket couldn't do this?

Only other thing I can think of would be the steam vent. I wouldn't think that a bad head gasket would let unpressurized coolant run out like that. Unless someone really messed up the install.

Get a small mirror and high powered flashlight and shine it back there and angle the mirror. You should be able to see where the leak is pretty easily.
