Default How to remove crank/balancer bolt in a pinch *pictures*

Had the engine on a stand without an impact gun strong enough to remove the crank bolt. Used the good old belt trick...

Wrap the serpentine belt around the pulley and overlap it until it grabs when you put pressure on it. Then loop the other end through the bottom of the engine stand because you will not be able to hold it. Next balance a jack on the engine stand and use a piece of wood between your oil pan. When you start cranking down, it will pull the front of the engine down, so the jack supports it. It's a bit nerve racking, but it worked first try!

They make a tool that goes in place of the starter that has teeth that lock into the flywheel.

If you had the proper tools, you wouldn't exactly be in a pinch... hence the title. With my engine on the motor stand, I don't have a flywheel installed.
