I would like that, but just the cam+ 2Es+Prods+ gaskets+ARP bolts is around $2600.00

The whole package above was just a little over $3300.00

The $500.00 bucks difference in head prices got me pump+injectors+rockers+T-chain.

TSP did me a little discount

I was told the PPs flow 296@ .600 & 220 exhaust.

Do you think I'm making a mistake? (Still debating but in the final stages)

theres enough info here on both camps for you to make your decision. either way good luck with it. i personally would of saved up a bit more money and gone the MTI route and got the injectors, pump, chain and rockers.

You said around 400rwhp estimate with above package.
What do you think the 2E's +X1 with the same other items would put me at?

I don't think it would be making a mistake to go with the PP heads there are a lot of cars out there getting great times with those heads. 500 bucks is 500 bucks that is a lot for 3300. you wouldn't beable to get all that if you go with the 2e's. Aren't the flow numbers of the stage two 5.3's as good as the MTI heads? Plus the PP heads come with the gold dual valve springs which are the best out there.

Well, MTI's flow 300 int/210 exh and PP 296 int/ 220 exh, so the are pretty damn close. Actually I think that flowing more on the exhaust side will be good for me, since I shoot N20.

yeah, also I like the way Trevor (TSP) relentlesly take time to respond to e-mails and give pos. and neg. views regardless of whether he would make more sales or not.

Well, I'm going to have to take the plunge soon.

I am going to guess 404.3
Friend has a very similar setup.
He has a 224/228 on a 113 but only 10.3 Compression.
He made 395 on a very tough dyno.

Did you consider the AFR's, with smaller volume than the ported heads and better flow, they will make more horsepower and torque with the same combination. Not that much more money and then you could still have them ported later down the line, when you may need more flow. I plan on using them on my 68'nova LS project car (if I ever finish it). I considered both sets of heads you are considering, decided on the AFR's.

I don't want to start some KaKa but in corvette forum a pair of AFR's only made 24rwhp over the LS6 heads on an "almost stock" LS6 Vette.

PP 5.3 Stage II are only 213 int runner/78 exh, that is still pretty small IMO.
Yet they flow 296 int/220 exh

The AFR's still have to be doing some more testing to "mature", I'm not jumping on that band wagon again.

Still they (AFR) are not in store and stocked for the picking.

As far as price well there is a big Diff. PP Stage II 5,3's are only $1295 VS $2249 for AFR's.

For the price TSP is hard to beat. Their customer service is awsome.

I have the 228R and have considered backing down to the 225 to see how it would turn out. With that 3500 TCI converter you should come out right around the 400 mark. You will need more converter IMHO with the 228R without spray. It's still a good choice for the level of spray you are usign though.

Well believe it but I decided to use the 216/220 sitting on my shelf. I put the bulk of my $$ into heads. With 1.80 or 1.85 rockers and bolt ons, I'm working on reaching 420rwhp with stock rear (A little weight reduction too, probably 3300 race)
Wish me luck.
