does any one know the GM part number for the head gasket for the LS1 type 5.3 heads

Try "www.gmpartsdirect.com". I found 3 different part #'s depending on what year your heads were made.

yes i found 2 part number on there site but im not sure what year the heads where made, i will look for the casting number tomorow

I got my gasket set from Thunder Racing back when I did the install. Forget who helped me but she was very helpful and knew what I needed.

I just got a set of AS 5.3's. The way I understood it from Jay was to use the OEM gaskets. The part # I have is 12498543 for 97-01 LS1/LS6. What nos are you showing?

Use the gaskets specified for your engine displacement, use OEM 5.7 for 5.7 blocks, use 5.3 gaskets on a 5.3 blocks. If you use a gasket that has a smaller bore than your piston, you will have engine noise as the piston will make contact with the new gasket.

casting number is 706, using these heads on a 98 LS1 block, these blocks bores are smaller than the 99 + arent they?
