Default TSP 228R cam?

What do you guys think the Texas Speed 228/228 cam? I am thinking of getting it but cant really find much on it. My car is a 2002 z28 m6 with most bolt ons, and is a daily driver. I want a cam with a rather aggressive idle but decent street manners. If anyone has any info, dyno #'s, sound clips, etc of this cam i would greatly appreciate it. Oh yeah, and I do not plan on getting new heads anytime soon.
Thanks

That is a great cam.. Your M6 will love it.. My car went 7.37 cam only 6.0L @ 3700 lbs with the TSP 228R cam. The guys over at TSP are great to deal with too..

Here is a copy of my dyno cam only and then with heads added a few months later on the same graph.. That is through an A4 with a vig3200 and 3.73s.. Good Luck. They are locked corrected numbers.. They are accurate.. I made around 408/407 unlocked with heads..

I pulled 394/366 with this Cam and the mods listed below. Just another perspective. Personally I plan to go with another cam one day.

Actually I plan to go to the track when I get a chance, but haven't run with this setup. I have an electric cutout to be installed btw, this should bring me up into the 400s RWHP, but its the tq that I'm more discerned about.

Yea.. Your torque is off... Especially for the heads and the fact you have an M6. What gears are you running? I actually made like 365 hp and 385 tq unlocked with only the TSP 228 cam in my A4.. I'm wondering about your heads.. I don't think the cam is your culprit though.. I know people that are making numbers in the neighborhood of mine with the TSP 228..

I placed my order for the same cam last week. I did a lot of research on the cam and it seems to be a good street cam. Texas speed was great to work with they took the time to answer all my questions. For me I wanted something that would peak around 6500 rpm and be able to run with stock gears for the time being. I hope to upgrade to a 9" next year with some 4.30's in it.

I have a friend with a similar cam and it has a nice lope to it. It sounds more agressive than a 224 cam. He has an auto and with a good tune has no driveability issues. I am geting the TSP 228R cam, patriot double springs and valve train, pulley and long tubes with an off road Y. I hope to see close to 400 rwhp. I am thinking I will be very limmited with the 10 bolt, but maybe I can squeak a low 12 with a lazy 60'. . I will give a full report when the install is complete.

I ALSO HAVE THIS CAM AND LOVE IT. IT IS CURRENTLY USED AS A CAM ONLY SETUP BUT I'LL HAVE THE HEADS TO COMPLIMENT THEM SOON ENOUGH.I HAVE A 01 M6 AND WHEN COMPLETED WITH (very important) THE OTHER COMPONENTS.I KNOW I WILL EASILY MAKE 425+RWHP.THE MOST IMPORTANT YHING FOR YOU TO DO IS CREATE A SYSTEM TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS AND STICK TO , FORGET THE 240= DURATION CAMS IF THIS IS REALLY A STREET CAR.THOROUGHLY READ THE THREAD ON CFM REQUIREMENTS FOR DISPLACEMENT AND RPM AND YOU'LL GET THE PICTURE.

For what it`s worth, I`m running that cam with PP LQ9/LS6 heads also. Car made 377 rwhp on a Mustang Dyno (I could care less about Dyno #`s) and I`m running pretty consistant 11.6X`s spinning pretty bad. I did have some idle and misfire issues at first but they were taken care of after the 2nd tune. Over all I like the cam and I think it should work well with the Direct Port kit I have my eye on.

Been looking at this cam on a 114lsa guys. Seems like a very good cam for an upgrade. Was wondering how it sounded? I want a car that is loud but not to overwhelmingly loud. Car is a 99 z28 m6. Was wondering what the quietiest aftermarket muffler would be for this cam? Need to sneak it by the emissions guys here in IL. Its obII tested but i dont want them thinking i moded the motor.
