One quick question (cam/stock valvetrain)
Hey everyone. I'm thinking I might hold off on the H/C package for a while, since I need the money to fix my car (new hood/fender...sucks), but what I'm thinking I might do is get a cam after my repairs and have my friend (a car GURU...amazing) port/polish either my stock heads or a set of 5.3's for me. Since I wouldn't be getting aftermarket heads, I would most likely still be running stock valvetrain. I just need to know if the cam I want to get, the LG Motorsports G5X2 can work without valve modifications.

With the x2 you'll need, springs, retainers, seats, locks, and might as well throw in Viton seals.
Also oil pump & double roller.
And if you don't want to pick up rocker bearings in your oil pan, some roller rockers.
1st question should be "can my stock bottom take it", so mileage and age of motor is a factor for the size of that cam.
Otherwise, you'll end up spending twice and more for a motor rebuilt.
IMO you would be better off guetting a strong shortblock, pp heads, x2, LS6 intake, headers etc...
In any case you will be looking at around $6000.00 complete and reliable.
