Default warped ls6 driver head

The drivers side head is warped. Don't know what to do they are stock 243 casting heads i all ready have a tsp 231/237 cam in . The head will have to get milled the head is warped .4 thousands so i guess i will have to go to 5 on both heads so they are usable.

any ideas ?????

thanks

You can get a set of Cometic gaskets in the correct thickness to make up the difference. Or I would say have the P/V clearance checked it may be OK with stock valves.

P.S.
The heads on Gen 3 engines are interchangeable; the driver's side head is identicle to the passenger side head....

Cool idea, huh?

Thicker head gaskets don't give you exactly the same result as a stock head surface height. While you end up with the same piston-valve clearance, the thick gasket leaves more space in the quench area, lowering your compression slightly and leaving you with more detonation potential. Don't take my word for it, read Vizard.

The heads are at the machine shop today i will get them back tonight. So do you think it would be better to go with a feel pro .40 or stock .53 crush. To avoin detonation . I am also{" ARP Studing " the block in hopes of getting a better clamping force on the heads.

I don't think you're at 11.5:1 man. Stock compression is only 10.5 I think. Milling .010" will probably only bring you up to 10.7-10.8. The GM MLS gaskets have a .060" crush, so you can pick up .007" of clearance right there and you'd be back to 10.5-10.6.

.010 is worth roughly a 1/4 (.25) of a compression point.
