Default local engine builder milling ls1 heads ok?

there are a few reputable engine builders local to me, I need .030 thousandths milled off of a set of new AFR heads,

It shouldn't be a big deal for someone who has never done ls1 heads right?

any special tips?

Why not get the shop that your buying them from to mill them also. That way if it's not right, it's on them.

AFR should be able to mill them before they ship. If its too late for that, head milling is head milling, but the heads will have to be disassembled and reassembled....

why would they need disassembled?
shouldn't need to be for just being milled. just clean them out thoroughlywith air and solvent

I am just glad to get them from the place I am, they are hard to come by now.

They're your heads, but I'd not want to take any chances that metal shavings could be lodged in valves, seals, springs, retainers, keepers, etc. Here is a thread where two cylinder head "experts" agree with me. Just my .02, good luck, Shawn

just got a more valvespring tool, so removing parts to clean after milling them is no big deal

Sent them to me and I promise to mill them and send them back.

You should have a plan before buying heads.

Why are you so against having the heads disassembled and cleaned then reassembled? A machine shop can disassemble and reassemble heads in their sleep. Its a simple procedure, and greatly outweighs the risks of not doing it.
