Default Patman - Oil question

I have seen your commnets about Mobil1 0w-40. I'm having trouble getting the local auto supply to get it in correctly. I have noticed the new 5w-40 truck and SUV formula. Just wondering how it stacks up...

From the tests I've seen on other sites, that SUV oil is just repackaged Delvac 1. Wish I could remember the website where the guy tested 0W-40 vs. 5W40, both M1 syn. I do know that the 5W40 is thicker even when hot than the 0W. I'll let Patman fill in the details.

Yep, the 5w40 is repackaged Delvac 1, which is a very good oil that is very popular with big rig owners. In fact I think the 5w40 would probably do a bit better than the 0w40 in the LS1.
