Default Pics of engine carnage:

Hope it works. Rod snapped in half and destroyed the engine. I still cant find the other piece to the rod that broke off from the crank. I'm thinking that a rod bolt might have failed, or was not properly tightened? Who knows.

If you can post a real good hi res pic of the bolt I can probably tell you if it failed from not being tensioned properly.

Get some good shots from a few different angles.

Try going here & look under the Yamaha pics. I deleted all those & added these.

I would take some closeups of the bolt end of the rod, except that I cant find that part!! It must be the part that flew out the side of the block!!!

Background on motor: ARE 393 All Bore, offset ground stock crank. Ross nitrous pistons, Eagle rods, Stage 3 ARE heads.

I also bent a valve when that rod let go & let the piston do whatever it wanted. Not a big deal though. It can be fixed easily.

I can't tell much from the pictures there. Well, other that there was a catastrophic rod failure. Did you find any other pieces of ROD?

Total speculation:From the last piston/rod pic it looks like the rod *could* have pulled apart there instead of being broken after the inital failure. Can you get any clearer pictures of that piece?
Really hard to tell though. I can't see the metal very well at all so it's impossible to tell if the rod was beaten into that shape or that's the point of failure.

Either way I hope things work out for you.

good luck

That sucks Black, I still got a printout of when you were doing the bolton deal. You just had ran a 11.9XX and were getting your Hal shocks/springs. You've went a looong way since then. 2 or so years ago. Just seen the papers last night and figured I'd share Sorry bro, get that beast running again!!

How many miles did you get on that engine? I have seen so many of these "performance" parts failing miserably. Short blocks, long blocks, heads, transmissions. Sucks...you have to be so careful with what you buy now.
