Default 427 Questions.

Just want to get some more input on the 427. Do they over heat easily? Do they drop sleeves easily? Issues like that, or what issues you guys that are running them have.
Might as well spend some extra money and go big since im going to do this one time (hopefully). Also, going to add the D1sc kit from ATI to it as well and boost the hell out of it for max potential. So, you can imagine that it will cost alot of $$. Just asking Q's like this inhead on time. Thanks All..

Lots of people have been going with 408s and now SLP is making 402s (4.000 / 4.000), and if you use a iron block you won't have any "sleve dropping" problems, even though I've never heard of someone having that problem.

We have done several Darton sleeve 427`s with zero issues. The Darton Block is a very strong block the sleeves have no way of moving around in the block. It is strong enough to handle the boost and abuse.

Would like to stay with the aluminum block due the weight difference obviously...
When its time to get the 427 shortblock i will for sure use one of these sponsors here to the right. Havent heard anything negative about any of them yet. The prices i got are from 7400 to 7800. So they all seem to be about the same prices. And im sure if i tell them that im throwing some boost on they will build it with the right specs.

Ive thought about an iron block... but if no one is having issues about dropped sleeves then i guess ill have nothing to worry about either.

Also, say everything is the same PSI/CR. ETC, but decided to go 383, what would be the HP difference, given the only difference is 383 instead of 427. 383 would be cheaper, so just wondering if its worth saving the extra cash and buying a 12 bolt.. Just want some input.. Thanks fellas

You should talk to Steve @ Race Engine Development. He's the co-inventor of the Darton MID Sleeve, and an LS1Tech sponsor. He can tell you anything you'd ever want to know about these sleeves. He's also the only person I would ever let sleeve a block for me.
