Default C2 or X1

i gotta 2000 Z28 A4. my current mods are mti lid, hooker full lengths, ory, dynomouth, and free ram air. and crappy 2.73 with 3.73 waiting to go in. anyways i plan on goin down to mti to get my cam swap and tuning. im looking at the C2 224/581/114 or the X1 230/227 591/571 112. im also thinkin bout pairing that with a vigilante 3600 stall. im trying to put down atleast 370-380rwhp and i figure i would get that with the X1 and with the C2 maybe 350-360 and if i plan on dropping all that money i might as well go bigger. so my question is would that be a perfect combo as far as cam and stall? this is a daily driver, grocery getter that will probably not be going to the track. i needs tons of inputs as far as how my drivability goes and power and everything else. thanks.

With custom tuning, the X1 is very drivable. I drove my X1 equipped SS around for two days before getting custom tuning and it ran like crap (scared me, thought I had made a mistake going with a cam this size). After tuning, it runs/drives awesome and I'm very happy with it.

Both are good cams, I'd probably go with the C2 if you put 20K or more miles per year on your car, otherwise X1. The X1 will wear out the valvesprings a little faster.

I've got the X1 and love it. I have an MN6, sorry, can't tell you specifically about the A4... Anyway, my idle is set at about 850 rpms. It stalls occassionally on hot starts and surges a little bit -BUT, for a reasonably large cam, it is very driveable - my daily driver in fact. I've had it in for almost a year and 9,000 miles and STILL love it!

I'm planning on changing springs next year with < 20,000 miles on them... insurance.

ah man..2 good replies but it still leaves me with mix feelings....lol...i wanna go X1 but i would not want to wear out the valvetrain that quick. but i know the 224 size cam is pretty much very dependable..shucks i need more replies!

The lift on the C2 is very very close to the X1, and if I'm not mistaken, the lift is whats hardest on the valvetrain. I don't think duration makes as much difference. The X1 does have a fair amount more of duration than the C2.

I had exactly the same dilema as you last fall, but made my decision because with comparable lifts, why not go for the extra 10+ hp and harder hitting lope? Thats the whole point, right? Also, I just decided that I would spend the $500 or so to get my springs changed in 2 years.

I definitely understand not wanting to get too outrageous, I wanted to avoid that too, and I have not regretted going with the X1.

Anyway, I'll let others chime in...

exactly everclear. thats what i was actually thinking. i mean all of mti cams are the same price and if im gonna go spend that amount of cash i might as well go big. so the X1 it is. i think i got a better shot getting in my hp goal of 370-380 with the X1 rather than the C2. but whats crazy was people putting down 390 with a 220 cam...i couldnt believe it. but thanks alot.

I put down numbers in sig with the C1. I'd go C2 w/ Good heads over ALOT of set-ups out there.

Sweet, I think you'lll be happy with it. See my dyno in sig - this is only with lid, headers, Y pipe and exhaust. A couple more bolt-ons should easily put me over 400 rwhp.

See Sig! I love my X1 and I`m tuned for the spray. Car runs very good. Idle is 900rpms and the sound is sweet. Runs well with a 100 shot tooooo! And A4
