Visit LS1howto.com for parts needed, I would also suggest a new timing chain and oil pump. It is also a good time to switch out the pulley. Alot of power can be made with a cam swap, but dont get caught up peak numbers, think more of on the lines of AUC (area under the curve) to maximize performance throughout the band and not just at the top. It seems that many people on this site like the 224 cams, they seem to be consistent.

I would suggest doing a lot of research before deciding though, b/c it all depends on your preferences.

Also, tell us more about your car.

headers first, IMO... otherwise you won't get the full effect of a lopey cam (sounds like that's what you want for the cool idle), and you won't get all the power it puts down. Either do the headers at the same time, or do the headers first...

Definitely agreeing with Tranzor here. Need to get the headers to totally take advantage of the cam's power and lopey sound. You'll want to stick with a 113 or 114 LSA(Lobe Seperation Angle) because with an automatic you'll want to keep the drivability up. Also, if you don't have a stall, you'll have to get that as well otherwise driving her around will get a little more difficult.

Stall first>Headers (Mids or LTs)> Cam

cam swap part vary between 900>1200 Dollars (parts only)

if you don't have headers you need them. i did a cam with no headers and did'nt gain alot but as soon as the headers went on WOW. the power really picked up alot and it sounded better. as predator said-stall-Lt's then cam.
