What cam, horespower per dollar??
I have a 00 ss basically stock, If I was looking to do a cam what would you suggest, best for my dollar. Also should I be thinking about new heads, or should i just have those heads gone over, new valve springs, etc. I hear both sides of the story. I head people going 11.90's with cam only! is this true? I was thinking of doing the z06 heads, cam and intake, but if i could get a big lopey cam and go 8 tenths faster, why would I spend three grand and not get that much faster?? So I guess i just want to know what people think i should do, what's the best cost and what not. I'm not going crazy w/ this car, that's why i have another camaro that's just a drag car. If you need anymore input on what i've done or am also planning on doing, just lemme know, thanks a bunch

For what your doing I would keep your stock heads and have them cleaned up. If your going to bother swapping the cam I would go with something a little larger than a Z06 cam. Also don't forget that tuning is everything when it comes to performance and street manners.

keep in mind everything is relative, small cam only setups in the 11's are cars with a pretty healthy dose of weight reduction and there huge stalled auto's. these cars also have there suspension and traction dialed in. to take a full weight daily driver cam only isnt an easy feat.
since you say this is not a drag car your best bet is a nice set of heads and a cam to match. look at the 224 duration h/c setups, there usually good for 400+rwhp, have a nice broad powerband, great street manners, and are a relatively easy setup to tune if done by a comperable tuner.

I have a B1 [221/221 560/560 114]and mods in sig.If I could launch harder I think high 11s would be possible and driveablity without a tune is pretty good but a T1 or C1 would be real borderline in an M6.People have said on here that B1s are to tame but my car has a pretty good lope and shake but pulls real hard in the midrange and is great in the lower end with help from the 4.10s.Maybe these XER lobes are making for more torque with less lope but I wanted to shift at a sane level and retain torque, which I think I did. Many people make fast cars with "little" cams but a too large a cam can cause a soggy bottom and a car with nothing until 4500.I'll be proven wrong tho.

i have a tsp 231/237 headed my way in the mail, brand new, for less then $250. add in patriot gold dual springs and there ya go for hp for dollar ratio. won't be puttin new heads on for a few months(college starts in two weeks and that cuts down on hours for work). there are bigger cams out there, and smaller. this cam lopes pretty hard, but i'm also willing to deal with that. i'll be putting in 4.10's in my 10-bolt soon so it won't be as intolerable to drive. its all a matter of whats right for you. if you have the $$ for new heads, definitely go for them, i would be.
