Do ValveSpring Dampers help prevent Valve/Piston damage on breakage?
I have a "T1" Cam that I bought along with CC941 springs about 3 years ago. I broke 2 of those, and replaced them with K-Motion 750's. Well I broke about 4 of those. I now need a new set of springs.
I have noticed that most new springs out in the market do not have the dampers (like the two brands I mentioned above). The dampers give me a sense of security should the spring break. How critical, if at all, are those dampers in helping prevent Valve/Piston damage?
Thanks!

Spring manufactures do not recommend using dampers with titanium retainers due to severe wear on the bottom of the retainer. We recommend using our VHP dual spring set. The second spring will retain the valve if the first one should break. The two springs share the load, so to speak. Good insurance.
