Default Crank Seal Replacement

I need to replace the front crank seal on my 99 T/A. I've been told several different things about what all needs to be done to replace the seal. Is it true that all I have to do is pull the crank pulley off to get to the crank seal? Do I need any special tools to remove and reinstall the crank seal?

Nothing special. Pull the pulley off, stick a screwdriver in there and pry it out. Lube up the new one, and lightly tap it into place until it's seated. Reverse your procedure, done.....

Not supposed to lube the new seal. Install it dry.

You'll need a new crank bolt from the dealer too. Go to www.ls1howto.com and look up the cam install procedure. It'll have what you need for the crank seal.
