408 combo/hp/heads
I just purchased a 408 stroker kit and i was wandering if anyone has done this type of combo before. I didnt have enough money to buy a set of heads at the same time. So i ended up using my 5.3 heads with larger 2" intake valves and polished exost ports. 11:1 comp. The cam is .567/.572 lift dur. 224/230 at 114 lsa. I will be using the truck intake also. I am just curious if anyone knows any numbers of what a combo like this will put down. I forgot to mension it is going in a 1/2 ton truck thats why i had these heads/prior to buying this kit.

Re: 408 combo/hp/heads
IMO, that is a very small cam for a 408 CI. I have a 382 stroker with a 230/227 (MTI X1 cam) and may car sounds and drives like stock! I am changing my cam to a 232/236 or somthing like that!
You should get a bigger cam like the 232/236 for a 408. and I bit you it will drive stockish. You should be close to 480 rwhp - 490 rwhp with S2 heads and a good cam.
Look at my sig. 382 CI with a stockish drive and made 450 rwhp!

Re: 408 combo/hp/heads
I really didnt want to go to high on the duration just because i am running it in a truck i wanted to try and keep a lot of low end torque as well. Plus i am going to use it as a daily driver. I am also going to run a decent amount of nitrous through her, so i am not too worried about having to use the smaller heads. Do you know what these lower ends are rated to hold.
