Default Heads/Cam going on soon (I hope).....just a few Q's....

I'm going to be putting mildly hand ported LS1 heads and a GM LS1 HOT cam with LS6 springs on my 6.0.....I know it's a pretty mild combo but it'll be reliable and ANYTHING is better than the iron LQ4 heads/stock cam I have now, and the increase in CR will help out a little bit as well. My questions are:

1. I have a complete gasket kit, new head bolts, and a new crank bolt....is there ANYTHING else I need (hardened pushrods??...what length??)

2. Will the truck be drivable after the install without tuning (even if it runs like crap) ?? (It's a 130 mile drive to CMotorsports in Vegas...Seth will be doing the tuning there)

3. How is this combo going to work with the stock converter??...It's getting a TT2600 EVENTUALLY but not right away (house payments SUCK)

4. is the stock 4L80E tranny gonna live at the 6400-6600 RPM's that I'll be shifting it now ?? (I asked this question the the Auto-Trans sections and only got one reply....anyone else know??)

Thanks for the help
Al

1. A new timing chain and oil pump might be a good idea. You can get stock replacements for these. Also, a new oil pump pickup-tube O-ring. This one is a must. If you milled your heads you will need shorter pushrods. Any vendor can help you with this one.

2. It will run like **** but it will run nonetheless.

3. I'm not to sure on this one since my SS is a M6 and my Silverado A4 is pretty much stock. However, from reading experience here in LS1tech, maybe you should do the converter first. But, like I said, I'm not sure on this one.

4. I have no idea . I thought Silverado's came with the 4L60e though not the 4L80e

The truck is a 2500LD....it's got the 4L80E tranny and 3/4 ton drivetrain as well as the 6.0 (other than the 8-lug wheels it LOOKS like a 1/2 ton though...makes a killer sleeper)
