Default LS1 cam with LS6 heads

Ok first off I tried the search and couldn't get a reliable find.

I'd like to put LS6 heads on a LS1 motor and use a Stealth II cam, i'm well aware of the issue with LS6 cams base circle and the valves being .050 longer. If using the LS6 heads w/ LS1 cam will I only need to use 7.350" pushrods (.050 shorter pushrods or is their other changes that will need to be made)

Now with LS6 heads and the valves being longer you can still use 918 springs i'm assuming.

thanks

What is your question?

I didn't see a question (or a question mark) in there.

Can it be done? Yup, just contact a sponsor ------>

Would I use 918 springs with that setup? Nope.

Ok, shall I rephrase? is swapping to 7.350" pushrods the only corrective measure needed to install a LS1 camshaft using RPO LS6 heads?

thanks

You dont need to change the PRs. It depends on what year heads they are. If they are 01, then the valves are LS1 length. The 02-04s have slightly longer valves, but not .050"...more like .010". Stock length will be fine. When installing 918s, you'll need to check the installed height to make sure its the recommended 1.800. You may need to shim the springs. Dont let anyone feed you ****, 918s are good springs and will work great with the lightweight LS6 valves and that small cam. Also, why not just install the cam at the same time? You are 1/2 the way there already? Dont expect much of a gain with the stock LS1 cam in there.

He is putting a Stealth II 224/220, .581/.581 116 lsa XE-R (TTT)

with those fast ramps i would get as close to specs on the pushrods as possible to avoid a very noisy valvetrain. 7.35 is what I would use if you are staying with LS6 valves.
As for the springs, Hmmmm I would'nt personally use 918's when I can get doubles such as "PP GOLD" for a very decent price. Extra security.

Yeah..misunderstood his post. He said "LS6 heads with LS1 cam"...well, I see what he was saying. 7.35" is honestly too short. Stock lifters need a decent amount of preload to work properly. LS6 valves are only about .010" longer than LS1 valves, but thats only on the 02+ heads. The 01 heads have stock LS1 valves. Patriot Golds are heavy *** springs to be using on a nice lightweight valve setup, IMO. But obviously people are afraid of singles. There are many of us on here that have a lot of miles on XE-R setups w/918s and have had no issues. A few broken springs isn't a huge deal, as all of the springs on the market have failed at one time or another. Remember too, a big factor in a stable valvetrain is weight.

Yeah you're right on this one, IMO the best would be to use this to really find out. LOL
