completly stock except cam?
What cam would run well and make good power in an A4 car that retains stock exhaust, (cutout and maybe a catback), stock heads, ls1 intake. only changes would be say: lid, catback, cam, springs, cutout, and higher stall verter. I would think a 218 224 .530 (maybe higher lift) on a 114LSA. The higher exhaust duration because of the stock exhaust manifolds, but would the ls1 intake restrict the intake enough to go to an even # on the duration (int/ext)? 114 LSA for idle quality in an A4. Lift being lower because the stock heads. Probably need some tuning but, how much and what should be changed?

Even with the LS1 intake, if you're not going to have headers I believe a traditional split cam is better. But the truth is most of the LS1 cams made would probably run well and meet your very general requirements. I think the determining factor will be what kind of emissions testing you have: none, OBDII, or sniffer.

Why not wait and see what Joe is doing with his "Cam only" grind?
