Default Well it dose not look pretty!! PICS

Wel I knew I had at least one piston broke, I really thought two or three possiblly. Well turns out I had four . And they were all on the same side 1,3,5,7. I took a few pics to look at if you want to know how bad they can be hurt and still run 11.7 @ 125MPH. This is on a FI car. Full weight and street tires. Tony (Nine ball was there. Well he was actually behind me LOL! So I ordered my pistons and rods yesterday I will be building it myself as I do all my own work. I will let you know how it comes out etc...

That doesn't look good at all, but better than a hole right through the center or something, with that at least you could still run.

Good luck on your next engine.

Well The tune was as good as it could get with the fact that I was still droppping 20psi of fuel presure. But The first Vortech S/C I had locked up after 10-18miles including dyno time. When the bearing blew it sent a lot of oil into the intake. Oil will lower your octane rating and that is when some of the damage happened. Recived my new unit installed it and it ran good I told several people that it was down on power for some reason, but drove it for a while and to the track. Took it back to MTI fo a retune with a change in my fuel system and that is when I found out I was down 200hp. Started looking and found the old CHoo CHoo train out of the breather. No nitrous. Never knocked or made noise very quiet engine. well going to drop off some parts at the machine shop I'll let you know how it turns out.

My #5 piston did the exact same thing. What was odd is it did not hit my cylinder wall at all. My oil ring ended up folding into the missing area.

Will crazy ish like that continue to occur even with forged pistons? I mean, yes a bad tune, low octaine, detonation will kill a forged bottom end regaurdless, but what is the likely hood of it with forged pistons? Never see to many thread about people nuking aftermarket pistons, probably takes a lot of punishment.

I am droping fuel presure in the upper RPM range. Was dropping 20psi the last time it was about 10psi so I am getting there.

Stock pistons are hyperutectic and don't tolerate detonation well as your ring lands can attest to.They are just to brittle compared to a forged unit.

Thumbs up

Quite a mess you made there! Enough damage to require machining to the cylinders of the motor?
