Can i use my stock maf with my new 408 motor?

Default Can i use my stock maf with my new 408 motor?

I hear the stock maf is good till about 550 rwhp, which is where im hoping to be.

can i keep the stock maf or do i need to upgrade and with what?

i had a granatelli but just put the stock one back in.

if the stock MAF was good enough for Tony's 434 its good enough for me

if you are going to be running a 90mm lsx then you need a 85mm if you dont get a 85mm maf you arent gonna hit 550

Not true at all

a stock metal body MAF will read enough air for ~650HP at the flywheel. An unmolested 85mm will read less due to the flow curve it has.

You can do it on either, but tuning will be a little different depending on which one you choose.

so your saying he should run a 78mm maf with the 90mm lsx setup? im not saying the 78mm maf cant read that much hp im saying its gonna be a major restriction in the 90mm lsx setup.

He can. While it might be a restriction, it can be done w/ the smaller MAF. It'll be less of a restriction w/ the 85mm on there, but the tuning will be different like I said.

Question was can he use the stock MAF, sure. No mention was made of which manifold/TB is going on the car.
