Default TR224/114 or Equivalent Cam??

Starting with the mods to my new '04 GTO M6...and yeah, I know, I haven't even put the motor in the Yukon yet. Soon enough...trying to get someone interested in the install has been difficult.

I'm looking to up the power across the board while staying stealth and Cal emissions legal. I just bought a set of Absolute Speed Stage II 241 castings and want a good cam to match. The heads, cam & a CAI will be the only mods for awhile but I will eventually add a free flowing exhaust - headers (CARB approved), Corsa catback and maybe a better y-pipe & cats.

After reading the forums for a week, I have decided that a 224 w/114 LSA cam is probably the best bet for today & future mods. Now I need some "been there" advice on which cam manufacturer/seller: Thunder TR224, Comp or even an alternative suggestion.

Any thoughts or experience to share?

There are several people who have passed California emission test with TR 224/114 cam. This cam is very smooth and provides decent power all across the powerband so I do believe it is a good choice. I am planning to get TR224/114 for Z06, which I hope to buy within next two or three weeks.

The TR224 seems to be a favorite on the forum. I fully considered the TR220 to be on the safe side, but it seems like there is a lot of confidence in the TR224 being able to consistently stay on the emissions legal side, and make good power.

i've seen documented proof of the TR224 114 passing, with a good tune it passed pretty cleanly. keep in mind though every car is a bit different, i know another guy in NY who failed with a 224 114.

as far as which 224 variant to get in the end it doesnt really matter. you'd be hard presssed to find more then a few rwhp difference between them on the same setup. this is where price and customer service comes in; im partial to TR for a lot of my mods, they've got great prices and there service is top notch.
