Default Rev Xtreme Stage 3 Heads & XR4 Cam

We just completed a Stage 3 (LS1) Heads & XR4 Cam package + headers install on a cusomer's '01 TA WS6. The only other mods on the car includes an ASP Underdrive Pulley, GMMG Mufflers, & Lid. After tuning by Jeremy Formato, the car put down a whopping 443 rwhp / 392 rwtq!

The cam was custom ground by Comp Cams, and was developed by Rev Xtreme & Jeremy Formato of Fasterproms. The heads are custom hand ported, and flow benched with 2.02/1.60 valves. Needless to say, the customer was very happy!

This is my car and all I can say is "oh hell ya"
The guys at the shop are unbelievable and the power they made w/out nuking the motor speaks for its self. Nothing top secreat about the setup it is just great choices, the right people to install the parts and the best tuning money can buy. If you live anywhere near Florida and are looking to make power then you owe it to yourself to make the call and see what they can make happen for you. Sounds like I am an info commercial for them but the truth is the truth.

Freaking awsome numbers guys!! Dan, I'll be back up there soon. I just checked the thread over on revx board. I was the guy with the red gto that drove up from Miami. I'm just waiting for the LT's to come in and 3.91 gears will be installed and I'll be back for a re-tune. Congrats again!!

It's there. That's a pretty stout tq number as it stands. Most H/C LS1's put down more hp than tq. FI normally yields more tq than hp.

There would be more TQ if the tuner would tune the A/F a little fatter, but he doesnt like to tune below 13.5 or 14:1 WOT.

Nice numbers and a few questions. I saw someone say it was a small cam, but what are the specs, or at least an idea? I must have missed them. I would guess a 230+XER on a 112. On the dyno graph it looks kind of ragged and on a smoothing of "0". What are the numbers with the smoothing set at 3-5 like most other shops? Why so lean? I have seen folks do the lean dyno thing to get a decent number then fatten it back up for the street to be safe. How much for this setup for just the heads and cam installed and tuned if we already have the rest of the bolt ons? Thanks in advance and look forward to the answers.

That is simply not true, Carl. With my last motor, he left it at 12.5:1 because that's where it made the most power/tq. Jeremy tries many configurations, as he does with every car he tunes. I've never seen him complete a dynotune in less than an hour. And he tunes these LS & LT motors on a daily basis for a living.

As for Ryan's car, 13.5:1 was the leanest it ever got across the chart. That is within the safe range, and also where his car made power. Keep in mind that somewhere in between the 20+ pulls, the A/F was rich at one point, then leaned out for a reason. If his car performed better rich, I'm sure Jeremy would have left it there. To top it off, Jeremy finishes the tune on the street. IMO, that is as good a tune as you're going to get anywhere in the country.

Thanks.

BTW, the cam was a 236/230-XER 114.

I do not have the specs with me at work but this is a 114 lsa. As far as the dyno graph I will have to let the guys at the shop answer that one. I was able to test the car last night on the street and it put a big smile on me and the tuner at the shop. The car had no problems going home on the highway doing 75 and pulling a little over 1500 rpm in 6th.

Dan maybe you or Jeremy can ans the question.

Thanks for the reply and at least I was close on the cam. Still big in my book, but average these days compared to some of the monsters out there. Nice on a 114 for a better idle. Still a bit lean from talking to shops I visit across the country and most shoot for 12.8-13.2 to 1 on the dyno, but everyone is different. I prefer a little richer but as loing as it works. Still curious about the other 2 questions. What are the numbers with the smoothing set at 3-5 to get some of the raggedness out of the curve? How much is the installed price for this heads and cam swap with tuning on a car with all the rest of the bolt ons already? Good power and glad you are happy so far Ryan. Thanks again in advance for the answers.
