Default Knock Knock

I know this thread has been beat to death, but im looking for some things I can do to get rid of knock retard. I just replaced a trashed rearend and transmission. I have always had some level of knock retard ~4. But after the installation of the transmission it has gone up to 10 degrees at times. I can deal with a small amount, but 10 is way over the top. I tried a MAF and it seemed to help a bit and I did the engine top cleaner (even tho I have done the LS6 pcv mod) those seemed to make a mild difference. The knock seems to come in at a higher rpm range.. (3500+). I havent tried race fuel in it yet (after the transmission install), but I have done that in the past and it didnt do anything to help. The car does have an audible ticking to it.

I wondering if it could be any of the following:

1) Transmission dipstick tube
2) Something with the converter
3) Messed up lifter
4) faulty knock sensors (are 2000 knock sensors good?)

Any one have any ideas? Its really hard to get a good E/T with 10 degrees of retard.

Start with the dipstick tube.

Ok got an update. The 10 degrees comes in when the torque converter locks up. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike
