Default A Peak Inside The Engine Of The APE Shop Car

Here is a sneak preview inside the powerplant of the APE Shop Car, now dubbed Project Black Mamba.

Our goal is to have it fired up and testing within the next two weeks, our second goal is to run 7's at the Thunder Shootout in November, and after who knows.

It will be a 359ci Iron Block with our big daddy Procharger F-2 strapped to it. With any luck we should be able to make north of 1200hp at the flywheel with this set-up. Stay tuned for details.

Pics can be seen here.

Nick,
Ran a 320ci gen 1 last night with f2. Made 1300+ at 31 psi.
That thing will rock if the head gaskets are happy!

BTL FED - generally we can get up to 120 runs out of those rods.

Kurt, happy gaskets are what we are after

awesome looking crank!! Those rods will take a nice bit of shock too

they tend to "stretch" a good bit compared to steel dont they?

The Callies crank weighs in at 38lbs!!! Special thanks to Brook, Nick and all of the guy's over at Callies for hooking us up with this killer Crank! BTW, this is there LS1 racemaster XLS. If anyone wants one you can buy them through us.

Chris, the rods don't stretch as much as they used too. GRP has come a long way in aluminum rod technology. We now get a lot of runs out of these rods. Also a special thanks goes out to Troy over at GRP for getting us these killer rods.

Is that the crank that comes in your forged shortblocks, mainly the 408?

No sir! We use just a standard racemaster in our 408's. You could upgrade to that crank though.

No AFR heads, just some badass 4.8/5.3 liters from ET Performance. Big thanks to Cary, Craig, Mike and the rest of the guy's at ET that busted their *** to get me these heads. They are simply the best 5.3 liter heads that could have been made!!

Looks nice Nick. Did Callies make you a crank, or turn down a 3.622 crank to drop the 5cid? Love the rods

I think that the price is right around $2200.00 for a crank like that. You want one J-Rod???

Looks good. You are gonna need some serious clearancing for that f2. Should be an awsome ride.

What clearancing??? The F2 fit perfectly on the center of the engine. Right where the water pump used to be!!
