Default Coolant Light Coming on

Hey guys i have a question, my coolant light comes on, and then if i turn the car off snd back on it turns off. It usually does it after the car sits and gets cold, then when i start it, the coolant light will come on. Then once the car is heated up, and if i turn it off, and back on, the coolant light goes off. There is coolant in there and everything, so what could be the problem.

The sensor has crapped out. I have just unplugged mine, instead of handing over $40 to GM everytime. The light will always be off. I believe in 2001, GM relized it was a piece of junk and got rid of it on the 01 & 02 F-Bodies.

I've had mine disconnected for a while. Why would I need it if I have a guage?

The light is for coolant level and the gauge is for coolant temperature. For me it is nice to know when the coolant is getting low BEFORE it shows up as an overheating problem.

The level sensor is just below the filler cap on the back, passenger side of the radiator. The wire just plugs into it and the sensor is held in place with a clip. Some people have reported having luck just cleaning the face of the sensor and re-installing it.

If you have a 98/99, just pull it off. After 99, GM stopped installing them on the LS1 (i think)
Mine came on ('99) but everything was fine. So i just unplugged it, call it the !Sensor weight reduction mod
