Default Is this a good cam?

Hey guys i have a question, im not too familiar with internal stuff, but i found a pretty good deal on this cam TSP 231/237 .595/.598 112lsa, i was wondering if this is a good cam to get? i dont have headers yet, but i am gonna be getting some soon, so i wouldnt put the cam in until i get my headers, but at the price its goin for i dont wanna pass it up. My car is a daily driver, so im lookin for something that still will do pretty good for a daily driver, and produce some good number also. And some nice lope would be good too..lol..thanks for the help and let me know

Good choice. Go with Patriot Golds.

It lopes pretty hard, and with the right tuning it is very daily driveable... as long as you can live with the loudness, of course.

Also, with the big cam/heavy exhaust duration you'll have a lot of raw fuel smell if you go with headers and no cats... that's what I did, and even though I'm tuned there's still quite a bit of that smell. I'll be adding a catted y-pipe this off-season to remedy that a little.

The TSP 231/237 is a very good cam. This cam will run in a daily driver.I would recommend you get all of the bolt ons. This cam has a very nice lope, and makes great power.I would run a good dual spring with this cam.The best spring IMO is the Precision Race Components dual spring kit.

How does the PRC spring kit compare to Patriot, Comp, and Crane? Cost wise, performance, durability, etc.? Does the kit include titanium retainers, hardened pushrods, Spring retainers, the works? I have not heard anything about these.

The PRC kit comes with the works. It includes dual springs good to .660 valve lift,Titanium retainers, seat bases and new seals.Durabilty is as good as it gets, with the PRC dual springs. This spring Kit is price competitive at @ $289.95.

Love the cam. Pulls HARD up top. Could use a tad bit more tq. down low however.
But, that said, I doubt this cam is coming off my car any time soon. I've had it about a year on my daily driver and am very happy with it.

See Terry's post above.

Also, refer to ls1howto.com for the cam install checklist for the parts necessary for the actual swap.

Rear end gears are a good mod for a cam like this.

Make sure you do most (if not all) of the intake and exhaust bolt-on mods before getting a cam.

You will also need to tune for the new setup.

It is going to be a good cam. Like South said you might suffer a little in the low end torque but I think you will make up for it in the upper rpm's. Good luck.

I'll take my lope over a wwwwwhhhiiiiizzzz any day. As cool as they sound, all the damn ricers have ruined the sound for me. espeically the ones with the ones with the whistler that makes it sound as if they have a turbo.
