Default 5.3 pickup heads

I have noticed a few people running different stages of the 5.3 heads. Is this the equivalent of putting 305 two barrel heads on a 350, carbed of course. That is a combination that for us poor folks is a hell of a lot of bang for the buck. This is also on pre 1986 engines. The smaller combustion chamber is good for a point of compression on those old low compression engines. Can the same idea be achieved by running mildly ported 5.3 heads on the 5.7 ls1 with a cam swap for good keeping while you are in there.

That's it-more compression and pretty good results per dollar...

I have 5.3 heads on my car and did so to bump the compression without milling the heads. I made 435 at the wheels.
