The old man cam. I haven't found much info on this cam. I saw it on the TSP site saying no tuning required. Well, I just wanted to pop a mild cam in for now since I am slowly building up the drivetrain for a future project next summer(not quite sure yet, but something monstrous). I just don't want to dole out the money for the entire cam set, install cost, tuning, etc... when I'll probably be ripping it out in the near future. Any other cam recommended? My mods are in sig. Thnx

Awesome cam. Makes power everywhere, but runs and sounds like stock. I had one in my '98 SS. I made over 400rwhp with ported heads and lots of bolt ons. Pulls some pretty high rpm too because of the LSA in retarded ICL. (it's 115 LSA and 117 ICL).

I may put another one in my new Trans Am. I love that cam.

Hi Patrick: If your out there a have a few questions for you about your old car with the Old Man Cam and ported heads.
You made over 400 Rwhp was this car was it Auto or stick? Was it the stock rear gear ratio? Did you have to get the car tuned or was it on a stock tune? Can you list the other bolt on parts you used with this combo? Was it thru an open exhaust or a closed exhaust? The reason I ask is that I like this combo on a street motor it must make some crazy torque down low and mid range. I wounder what that little cam would do with AFR 205's? Thanks for any help.

if your just gonna throw one if for now and then change in the summer, just cut out the middle man and save your money for your summer project! believe me it is always better to have some extra money just incase something goes wrong. i would say hold off until you are ready to do your somehting "monstrous"

Check this out: http://www.converter.cc/98_SS_Convertible.htm

You can check out the bolt-ons I had and setup of the car. The car had 5 different cams in it over its lifetime.

Fast ETs were done with TR230/224 111LSA cam.
Last cam I had in it was the 214/220 115LSA Old Man Cam. Made stupid power on the street with ported heads. Great fun on nitrous as well.

What's the reasoning behind the specs?

More lift on the intake,
More duration on the exhaust.

The intake side has more duration once the valves open up a bit more?

At .200, what sorta split are we looking at?

Be interesting if it were ground having a tighter lsa.

Thanks Patrick for the further info on your old setup. This looks like a very good combo for a street motor. I would really like to see some one try the AFR 205 heads with this cam. The small port high velocity design would make and insane amount of torque.
