Default need opinions

ok my car is on jack stands due to a tranny problem right now and the trans will need a rebuild. right now in my room i have a 230tr cam and TEA stage 1.5 heads. my original plan was to buy a ls6 block and build a h/c motor. i have everything but the pistons and block. 700 for the block from valve god shipped. BUT now that the car is already down and tranny out i was wondering if i could benifit from just useing my original motor and totally rebuild it fromthe main bearings up and save the 700 dollar and buy some thing else. i would like everyones honest opinion so hook it up.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> IMO, id save the cash and use the stock ls1 block. Im not sure what year car you have, but some 2001-2002 f-bodies came stock with ls6 blocks. That should tell you exactly how close they are to being identical. the pcv system picks up from the valley pan(pushrod cover) instead of the vlave covers and probably a few little minor things that are different. other than this, its the same. maybe take you block in, have it machined, line honed, mill the deck? whatever. thats what i would do, but its up to you...
