Anyone with SLP "ZL- stroker" check in
I was just wondering if anyone out there is running SLP's stroker kits either the 402 or 383? What kind of #'s are you getting? For around $3000 sounds great. Thanks ADAM

People really dont like there headers, they loudmouth has replacements for much cheaper and some people think better. IMO, I am not a huge SLP fan. But, everyone has there own thing and what they like. Good luck.

Just remember folks, without SLP, SS Camaros might not look the way they do. I feel SLP is a mix of good and bad designs, just pick the good ones and forget the rest.

yeah seriously....what is up with their headers? I mean they're a good price for stainless AND coated....but did they really need to make them hang that low and be a bitch to install? They should really think about re-designing them and keep a low price, they would move a good amount of product. I PMed SLP about their headers and never got a response.

I have a few SLP items on my car.. I have got nothing but great customer service from their staff and after some 2 odd years my headers still look brand spanking new along with the Loudmouth. Good luck with ZL stroker package.

You are right about SLP and the SS. They have done a lot, but there are other companies that are excelling father. Just look at TSP and MTI and there cams and packages for motors. But, SLP is a great company.

I just picked up the December issue of Car Craft and they( well SLP) have an article where they tested the 402 and they got 580hp and 550ft lbs with a 90mm throttle body and ported LS6 heads with compression @11.2:1, that sounds awesome. But as someone stated it is still new.
Who else offers reasonably priced strokers? I am relatively new and would appreciate some seasoned opinions. Thanks guys

580 is probably engine dyno numbers so , minus 15% driveline loss so it is more like ~490 rwhp
Not bad for peak numbers but not optimum for 400+ cid
Heck, 346 cid with AFR/90mm TB-FAST/ etc.... has reached those numbers.
The difference is in the trq output obviously.
The price is right, I know of only 1 post (MAX"S DAD) with that shortblock in operation and he was having smoking issues.
Waiting to see more live tests.

They claimed 575hp, 500 at the wheels, but the car went a best of 12.16 at about 117. There were stock Z06s there doing .3 less than that. I will say on there part that there driver was not impressing me at all. I was trapping about 122 and I dont have any where near as much power as they were runing. Considering there weight, they should have been alteast 125 if they had the power the were claiming. But who knows??? There's a list of reasons why the car may have been slow that day.
The motor still sounds like a good deal but I would go through it before I installed it.

SLP really hasnt done alot. They took the design cues from GM's 96-97 SS model. GM had it first. If you ask me, they dont know half of what's goin on. I was at SLP Day @ Englishtown on Oct 9th and I got to talk with one of their employees that was racing their 427 vette. He got out the car after his best run of a 12.79 and was goin on and on of what a monster it was and how fast he ran. Nope, didnt sell that one on me.
