These get installed 'dry' correct? I see that they are marked with 'Front', but no 'This side up'. So does it matter if the dark gray side is down or blue gray side is down. Lastly, would a small scratch about 1/4"x1/8" near the edge of the gasket on the intake manifold side be harmfull? TIA

You will probably be fine. Those gaskets are duplicates of each other so when they are on the engine and both facing front as marked, one will be "up" and the other will be "down".
