Default Spring dilema

I have a set of PP 5.3L heads from right before the Gold Spring, had the original PP Large Dia. Dual Springs. Broke a spring after about 100 mles, contacted Terry, he replaced, but with another set of Non Gold Large Dia. Dual Springs, which have since floated, using a TR224 cam under 6500rpms. So, in the middle of reparing the heads, I need new springs.

1) are the PP Gold Springs large diameter?

2) Can I use a stock dia springs with new seats or something?

3) what other dual springs are good quality, lift now for 231/237 cam?

Need help fast. Thanks.

Charlie

Gold springs are 1.25, or stock diameter. You'll need seats, seals, and retainers.

So both the PP and PRC kits come with new seats and I would be able to use them even though the heads have been machined for larger diameter springs? If so, cool. Order them I will!

Hoping not, the purpose of the spring seat is two fold:

1) provides a hardened surface so the spring doesnt wear thru the head

2) locates the spring base

So, leads me to believe I would be able to use stock diameter as long as the seats come with the kit, like the PRC kit has!

The PRC kit will work even with being machined for the larger diameter.
