Cheapest, most streatable way of going low 10s NA and 9s on nitrous?
I am looking into going low 10s NA and 9s nitrous. Its in my 68 Camaro. I dont want to run a blower. I would like great driveability since this is my daily driver.
Suggestions?
Thanks

Alot of it will have to do with you race weight and your suspension. Since your wanting to stay less radical and more streetable, these will be your key factors. I would reccomend a 408 short block with a set of TEA Stage 3 heads with optional nitrous exaust port. Those 2 compiled with a nice direct port nitrous kit should feed your fury. A 244/248 114 cam would go well and be streetable, along with being very nitrous friendly.

Well if racewieght is relitively low, you are still ooking at a $3500-4000 big cube iron shortblock 402,408. Then a nice direct port setup. You are lookin to spend another $2000 or so on heads and the cam and valvetrain of coarse and a big $$$ n20 kit. Along the lines of a NX direct port fogger with a seperate low pressure fuel system. So cheap is gonna be hard, espeacially reliable. This is why not everyone is going 9's on streetable cars.

I ment cheap as in as cheap as possible for good reliable equipment. Would it be possible to do it w/ a stock block w/ forged internals .05 over w/ heads and cam. My weight should be about 3100 with me in the car. w/ 4.10 gears.

Thats pretty light. I would say you could go to mid 9's or better with a stock block and forged internals. Just get some nice heads and hold everyhting together with studs and bolts of the highest quality. What trans do you plan on running. Do you have the block yet? I am willing to bet you could get a 6.0l block cheap enough, Build something close to stock cubes and use a inexpensive crank and rod setup from eagle, and soem nice pistons with hellfire n20 rings. A set of 5.3l heads with a bigger intake valve or both would get the compression up there for the n20.
BTW that is one hell of a nice looking 68'

All I see is talk about motors. Dont forget rear end, transmission, driveshaft, tuning, tires, light weight rims, and suspension.
Its hard to do it cheap. If it was easy everyone would do it

Well i just wanted to say that is a badass ride man. I want to do the same thing one day to a 69 camaro. I am sure a nice set of heads and a cam with your raceweight should be 10s NA. Well goodluck.
