I have the same cam, except for the lift, and I plan to go with some 5.3 Stage II's, or LS6 Stage II. Pretty much any Stage III or LQ9 head would be overkill for a cam this small.

I would go with the 5.3s, and as far as which brand to go with, to be honest i have not seen 1 absolute speed h/c car not make good power. every person ive seen with AS heads and any cam make really good numbers. But its kind of hard to get a pair of their heads from . my choices would be MTI, AFR, or AS

A 5.3 head will lower the compression a little bit over a 5.7 head. This will make a little power and is good for N/A cars, not for FI.

There are MANY brands of heads out there. Searching their name will bring up a ton of info. Looking though the dyno section also helps a lot.

You meant that the 5.3L head raises the compression a little over a 5.7L head.

When guetting heads, look for midlift #'s and not peak (.250,.300 & .400 lifts).
Those are way more important.
Also huge runners don't really mean more power (AFR really shine there)

241 (some 00- (all) 01-02 LS1 f-body) casting stage 2 head, milled .030 will perform in the same range as a 5.3, and is a better design than the 853 (99 and some 00) casting in stock form, but all ported LS1's will perform the same (theoretically).
The thing is that an unmilled 5.3 can achieve similar CR while allowing a little more PV clearance. (Chamber design) for bigger cams.

Also gasket choice for optimum "quench" plays a big role. (.038>.040 quench).

I concur with MTI Stage 2E, 2R, AFR and AS.

If you do some searching you can get a set of ls6 heads under 2k.

Predator-Z It does not matter if you have a set of 241 or 853 if they are ported. In there stock form then hell ya grab a set of 241 or a set of 5.3. The only heads that will preform better is 243 or 317 heads if they are ported right.

Predator-Z Just did not want you to misslead the new guy.

Rule of thumb YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR.
