918's and Stock pushrods

Re: 918's and Stock pushrods
I'm missing something... hardened pushrods are no less/more prone to bending than stock ones are. The main reason to use hardened pushrods has always been for heads which use guide plates...

Ok, Well I wondered why Thunder sells them with their cam packages. If stock rods only bend when they hit a piston, then what's the point.

The stock pushrods may deflect costing valvelift and hp. I doubt it causes much loss in hp. Still, I rather have some give in the pushrods to save the valves incase of problems.

Re: 918's and Stock pushrods
People use the term "hardened" when talking about pushrods and it really doesnt tell you about their strength. They are only hardened on the outside surface for use w/ guideplates...although they are also thicker and are made of chromoly steel, so they are indeed stiffer. I would use aftermarket pushrods w/ 918s...the stock ones are pretty weak.
