Got The Cam Now What Else?
Sorry guys I am kinda new to the internal engine stuff. I recently ordered the TR224/112 cam and was wondering what else I am going to need. I plan on getting the comp 918 springs and thunders chrome moly pushrods. Would it be a big deal if I didn't go with a double roller timing chain right now or should I get one? Also I've heard of people changing there oil pumps should all this be done right away or can I just intall my cam, pushrods, and springs for now? Only reason I'm asking all this is because I am trying to get by with the cam install with spending as little cash as possible right now (kinda broke) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> but I'll spend the extra cash if it is necessary so I don't mess up the car. My car is an 98 Z M6 with about 36,000 miles. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeremy

When I changed my cam I just couldn't stand to leave the sloppy stock chain in there. I installed a Cartek unit, but I would go with the SLP double roller pieces today. I kept the stock oil pump. My '99 only has 10K miles on it.
Hope this helps.

If you aren't having any oil problems right now - don't worry about changing out the oil pump.
I would highly suggest you go with a double roller timing set. The stock one is pathetic looking - and besides its cheap insurance. You can pick up the double roller from SDPC for like 75 bucks I believe.

Re: Got The Cam Now What Else?
Thanks alot for the help guys. I haven't had any problems with oil yet on my car so I hopefully will be safe. I have been checking the SDPC timing chain. It seems like a great deal. My only worry was will it work with my ASP crank pulley? I have heard that some people have been having problems with timing chains and underdrive pulleys. Also will I need any extra gaskets or anything when I install a timing chain?
Thanks,
Jeremy
