Default LS6 Heads with G5X3?

I'm throwing in a G5X3 this winter along with LS6 intake, long tubes, duals, etc... the whole works. The goal was 400+rwhp and to break into the 11's at 120mph. I'm now thinking of maybe going a little step further and just throwing some heads on while it's at Rapid. I really don't want my car to be too radical since I drive it 365 days a year.

But If I could get a pair of complete, unported, LS6 heads for a decent price, how well would they work with the cam? I'm going with a 114 lsa, so that wouldn't matter for the heads would it? How much more power would you say I'd see with the heads? I'd like to think 425rwhp with the heads on top of the G5X3...

i would definatly get them ported...i'm getting mine ported and i'm going to be driving mine 365 days a year as well...i don't see any real reason besides money i guess that you shouldn't port them...however your power estimates seem about right to me with unported ls6 heads...

I was thinking of going the unported route simply for money reasons. I will in the future need to rebuild this 346, and at that time I'll port the heads... and I'll already have the LS6 heads for a core charge

Yes, it is very stressful. I've been researching for months to get things decided, and now I'm trying to throw another wrench into it!

Oh well, the results will keep me happy

Oh, one thing you're not considering for daily driver duty is that I have snow and freezing temps here! If I were in Florida, things would be a bit better

Definitly not going to touch the heads other than to hand them to Mikey to put them on. I'm thinking if I can find a pair for 700 or so that are pretty fresh off a LS6, I'll ****** them up.

It's made by LG Motorsports. Here's the "known" specs...

2??/2?? Duration & 600/610 Lift at 114 Lobe Seperation.

It's bigger than their X2 which is 232/240 Duration & 595/608 Lift at 114 Lobe Seperation.

The X3 is a roudy cam, makes big power, and IMO, is very streetable.

Sure does, but I wouldn't know anything about that. That's a good idea bro. Just don't mill them and you'll be fine.

I think Godspeed made like 450 rwhp with stock LS6 heads, G5X3, LG pro longtubes, and a fast 90mm set up on his Z06.

Here is a graph of a Z06 corvette with just headers, G5X-3 cam and full mufflers.
Just as they drive on the street. No ported tb and full belts and stock water pump. 160 thermostat and stock intake. If you mill them you will just have to fly cut but you can clean them up with a .005 cut with no issues with stock valve size.

Have fun. You will love them.

LG

Thanks for the graph LG! Jeez... I was thinking about passing on the heads for now... but those numbers look great, and there is still a lot to be left on the table!
