I did it once. No damage, but I had a lighter than stock valvetrain and aftermarket pushrods.

Oh yah, that was nice. That sucks... I did it once, and I was releasing the clutch, but it just didn't feel right. Fortunately I got the clutch pushed back in before I released all the way, so I never hit redline. Why can't this stuff just happen to the Ford guys?

I also did this a couple times when I first got my car but I haven't noticed anything wrong since. I guess I'll find out pretty soon since I'm putting a cam in.

I bought an LS1 and found really similar damage. I don't really care because I'm planning on a complete rebuild anyways, the block isn't damaged...but one pushrod is completely snapped and the hole for it in the head is chipped a little bit...doesn't matter to me though...I am pretty sure the car was totalled because the guy did a 2-1 or a 3-2 at full throttle and wound up spinning the car around and whacking the back of it into a pole. Despite all the pushrod damage, there's no bent valves, no rocker damage, no cam bearing damage, and the T56 looks great inside.
