WOT issues...
When at WOT going into 3rd gear my car starts to sputter or backfire a little bit then goes back to normal as I stay in the throttle. What coul this be? I run 91 octane all the time, I use NGK tr55's, and thunderbolt wires. Maybe I need some different plugs?

It sounds like the problem is NOT fuel delivery related because it picks up and runs fine higher up in the rpm range.
Lower in the rpm range there is more cylinder pressure. Perhaps it's a marginal plug or wire. From your description it sounds like a misfire, you just need to know which cylinder. Are you getting a trouble code?

My car was running funny at WOT, down on power, went to my friends shop and TechII'ed the car.... turns out I had a bad knock sensor. It was causing my car to pull timing at WOT only and ran fine anything under WOT. When I replaced the sensor it looked like a rusted *** barnacle foundon the titanic.
Is your car throwing a code?

I believe the statement: "When at WOT going into 3rd gear" is the clue - it maybe hitting the RPM limiter during the shift (clutch in and RPM ups) and the PCM started to protect the engine by cutting off fuel. Going into 3rd gear is the longest shift and most people don't get them quickly as they might go from 1st to 2nd.
Just my two cents

ah, yes. it could be the rev limiter at the top of 2. That's been known to happen if you change gear ratio and don't reprogram. I suppose the higher stall converter could cause the same thing.
Can you tell whether it's right at the shift, or after?

Well my car is an automatic and its not hitting a limiter. It was pulling a code..bank 1 sensor not found but the I looked under my car and I seen my O2 sensor unplugged. Not really sure how it came off. I put an LS6 inatke on my car and maybe I messed up my tune a little bit by knocking of my air/fuel ratio or timing.

Have you done all basic maintenance and checked the obvious like loose wires?
reply with more info please.

sorry - didn't notice it was an automatic but how do you know it isn't hitting the limiter, do you have logging software? With my other cars which one is an automatic, I can hold it in gear until I am ready to shift. Also I was under the impression that the 2002's had the LS6 intake from the factory. If that is the case it should not have effected the car at all.

The automatics will still hit the rev limiter if you change gearing or torque converter. And you can't trust your tachometer to be displaying your actual RPMs. The gauge is known to be lazy. I'm not convinced this is it, but don't think you should discredit the idea so easily.
Your symptoms indicate a misfire, but hitting the rev limiter actually IS a misfire, albeit a computer induced one.
