Question How close to stock driveability is this?

Some help here would be most appreciated guys (and gals). I've got a A4 Z28, low mileage (37k). I love the car - no TCS, 2.73 limited slip rear, 25 MPG on freeway. Only mods right now are tons of sound deadener (for stereo), subframes, a strut brace, and a lid/K&N. I find myself wanting more performance without compromising driveability or MPG. This is my daily driver and my only (current) means of transport.

My goal is to be in the mid-low 12s and still have stock or near stock driveability and fuel economy. I am into stealth, I don't want a loud exhaust or any obvious cues as to what the car is capable of. I also have a nice system so I don't want to attract any more attention than a red Camaro already does. Finally, it will continue to be my daily driver. A stealth approach will also minimize warranty complications as my extended warranty still has 2 years left.

Here is what I am thinking, tell me if
a. My goal is do-able and
b. This setup will get me there:

1. Mid length or long tubes with ORY (possibly catted if ORY is too loud) through the factory cat back.
2. A converter, 3400-3500 stall
3. Keep my 2.73s for MPG
4. Port the TB
5. TR 224/224 on 114
6. Pro tune

How much additional benefit would some stage 2 heads give beyond what I am thinking about? Would I be better off just doing an STS turbo setup and being done with it? I work at a dealership so I can get cheap labor or do a lot of this myself for cost considerations. Any help and advice, especially if you have a similar setup would be MOST appreciated.

Thanks!
Jason

The combo sounds very workable. If you leave the cats in place, the exhaust will be quite stealthy. Horsepower should be around 380 at the wheels. That will be more than enough to put you well in the 12s.

personally if you're lookin for good track times, bump the gears to stock 3.42's at least. there's always people selling them on here for cheap. that will compliment the 'verter and cam more than you might think.

see mods in sig for my Z28...with the cam you will be in the 11's most likely. I liked my 2.73 gears in the Z...i had 2.73's in the T/A but i work at ron carter autoland so i just picked up 3.42's off the shelf and put them in one day and i love the 3.42s for the city but when i get out on the highway with my cutout...its absolutely annoying because my rpms are so high...if i had it to do over again i would keep 2.73's until i got a cam.

Hmm...good question. See sig.

I average 17 mpg. Once warm (2 minute warm up) it idles perfect and has never stalled since I messed with the TPS sensor (see my post in this thread...click here Idle Link ). It was a quick fix and works like a charm.

My car is still untuned...

i would say a 2800-3200 converter is all u need.. have a 3000 tci and love it. The 2.73 gear u could easily swap out for a 3.23.. its not going to hurt ur gas milage to much i dont think.. get something like mac mid lengths with a offroad y pipe or longtubes, it should't be to loud with the right catback, mine thru the b&b catback sounds quieter then a flowmaster catback on a stock car. all this and like a nitto drag radial which is the best daily driver drag radial, should put u into the 12's and prolly then some. if u want more u can always put a 75 dry shot on it which would make things very stealthy, tho i reccomend a tnt wet kit personally! the nice thing about n2o tho is it only hurts ur gas milage ect for like the 10 seconds u are spraying, then goes back to stockish form!
