You can drive as long as u want or can aford. Your computer thinks there is something wrong and it is adding fuel. So you are most likly running Pig rich. You will pick up 10-20rwhp with tunning. I am guessing your cam is on a 114 lsa sence you are in CA.

Mine is still untuned and it had been in for a little less than a year now. Mine is an A4 so it is on 114, but with my 3500 stall and a simple idle mod I have never had any stalling problems.

I installed a tr224-112 as well. I also did qtp headers, tsp true duals, mti lid, ud pulley, removed air pump among other mods all at the same time. Fired it up and started driving it. I hooked up a LM-1 wideband and my air fuel ratios are perfect from idle to 6k gets great gas mileage etc. It surges a little on a warm start but I kind of like it. I have heard so many different stories but this was my experience, I have no intention to tune it at this point. I took the gauge insert apart and put black tape over the ses light, that was my tune.

if it wants to die, you can adjust your throttle body to idle okay until you get it tuned. Open the throttle blade and turn the little screw up so the blade doesnt close completely...I know its not too good of a description but just look on the tb and you will see it!

For details on how to set the idle...please see my post in this thread--> Set Idle.

My car did fine without a tune. I did want to dyno it and got a tune at the same time. The tune didn't get me big peak gains (6 rwhp)(11 rwtq), but I saw more gains under the curve. All cars respond different though.
