Default Heads are off, which tool should I use to change springs?

Which valve spring compressor should I use???

I have this one already but have never used it:

This one is at my brothers but he lives 200 miles away:

Will the last one even work with LS1 heads?

I know Crane and SDPC makes a nice one but I can't justify the cost just to change springs.

I used the second one (similar) when I changed my valves for LS6's. Works great

your brother's tool would be best since it holds the valve shut while you do it.

Thats good to know it will work with LS1 heads. I might have to go and get it since it would be easier to use. I wish I wouldn't loan out my tools!

why not rent it from a local tool rental instead of driving all the way for the tool?

You can go by a local Auto Zone or Advance auto parts store and they will loan you one for free but you have to leave a deposit for whatever the tool costs new. Probably $75 with them. That would be a-lot better than driving 3.5 hours one way, or renting one. Only problem is they may not have one exactly like that one, but you could check, might save some time & money.
