When I ordered my 5.3 stg2 heads in January 04 Jay was using the Comp 977 or 987. I am no expert but I beleive that both of these dbl springs need the pocket milled in the heads. I'm sure someone more knowlegable will step in here.

Correct that is the springs he was using, however the question was what valves.
He uses REV valves and claimed they were on backorder for months and that is why nobody has recieved their items.

The newer heads are REV 2.02/1.575 valves. The setup right before these was a cutdown 2.04/1.575 REV setup. Jay said the 2.02 valve has better flow characteristics.
Hope that helps

Mine are a little older and came with Manley valves (2.02, 1.57) and 987 springs. At the time only 987's and 918's were offered from him. If I'm not mistaken, when you use 977 springs you also need to use longer valves because of the spring length. Maybe Jay fixed this with another solution, I don't know...
