Default Is there any evidence that HS rockers are contributing to valve float?

Is there any evidence at all that HS rockers are contributing to valve float like the YTs were thought to have? I remember about 6 months to a year ago, several discussions took place, basically blaming YTs for causing or contributing to valve float issues. Are the YTs better at controlling this? They do seem lighter than the YTs.

Thanks, Shawn

TTT. You do see a lot of guys that seem to be "missing" power on the dyno (dyno racing ) . Coincidentally, a lot of these guys are running aftermarket rockers.

I like stock rockers unless you have a solid roller.

My harland 1.8 rockers caused valve float on my c5 over 5500 rpms. put on 918s and no more valve float. Not sure if that is what you were asking

My understanding is that the HS are a total of 2 grams lighter than stock, but when Alan at FMS was tuning my car he thought I possibly was experiencing float at around 6500. My springs were used 918's purchased from CamminBeast on here that were reported to have approx. 200 miles on them. My car makes good power to 6500 but drops off right after. I have been considering a dual spring but have seen a lot of builders consider the 918's a great spring for the LS1.'s Might just try a fresh set of 918's. I have put around 1500-2K on the current one's.

I have Harland Sharps on my AFR's. I am running them with the Patriot Gold Duals that ship with the AFR's. Tony from AFR told me they were kind of heavy on top and I should look for float when I dyno tuned the car. We spun it to 6800 several times with no float, so I think they are ok on that setup. As I see it the float issue stems from not enough spring pressure for the lobe you are running coupled with the total valvetrain inertia. Whether they gave me more power is questionable, but I don't believe I lost any either because a friend of mine with a VERY similar car did almost the same mods as mine except he kept the stock rockers and we were within 2hp and 2lb/ft of each other. We dyno tuned back to back on the same dyno, same day.

Just get good springs the first time. I run YTs, Comp 978s, and X1 cam and no problems here.
