Would LG's G5x2 cam work well in an A4?
Is anyone running this cam or know anyone that is with an A4? The numbers are astounding, but will it work well in a daily driven A4 with cartek stage II heads?

We'll find out in a week or so when my car is finished. Lou told me it would work fine in an A4 with a decent sized stall convertor.

to take advantage of that cam, like rageman and others will do, is turn it to 7K rpms since the power doesnt drop off.
as for your statement of the weakest link, ever check out a set of LSx rodbolts? lol, if you did then you would reconsider the valvespring issue.
i am still waiting to hear a cam like that in an A4. with manuals, big cams are not a limiting factor ever. you have a clutch.

Can you change the rodbolts out by dropping the oilpan and doing it underneath?
This just may be the cam for me.

IMHO, this cam is to big for an A4. Especially if you want to keep your rod bolts in tact. I would think that this cam must be shifted *atleast* at 6700-6800 or more RPM's to take full advantage of this cam. I sure as hell would not want to spin my stock ls1 block (with the exception of valvesprings, pushrods, etc..)that high.
*but* thats just me, everyone is titled to their own opinion...This is coming from a guy who had a A4 with a TR-224 cam and i thought that cam was just perfect for an A4.

I think you would need a heck of a stall and a raised idle for sure. Definitely going to take some crafty tuning to get it drivable. I guess I would do something different. MY bottom end didnt survive its 6700 fun. But the new 387 will. But its been a long time w/o my car because I was trying for that last 3 hp

That is one of my next mods. I have a TCI 3500 with 2.5 STR and NX 125 shot. Hopefully it all works out.
Ive heard the g5x2 loves the spray.

Hi Guys,
The power peak is at 6400, and that is where we set the shift point on an A4. For that shift point, we use a 6800 rev limiter, just so when it shifts, it doesn't hit the limiter.
A 6400 power peak is not all that high.
thanks

Actually you would be surprised how well they idle with the cam - even the automatics. We raise the idle and make some other tweaks in the PCM and they are very street friendly. Even the A4's with our heads seem to idle better than some of the small cams of not too long ago.

Here's my graph with an A4, idles awesome! 950 AC off, 1100 AC on. No surging or stalling.

Vig 3600, Headers, Cats, no pullies, no ported TB, S2 LS1 heads. Direct port coming soon after I build up the bottom end!

Re: Would LG's G5x2 cam work well in an A4?
nice graph saint ws6!
That's exactly what I want. What do you run at the track?
I see there's another thread with a a4 vette that made 394hp at 6700 rpm. That's a bit too high for me
As long as it makes it power at 6400 I think I'm gonna do it. Looks like if you kept revving it, it would still make power.

I dont know if they ran my car unlocked. I never thought to ask. Maybe Lou will pull my old charts up on the computer next to the dyno and post if he has em?
