Planning whole new setup, could use advice.
Preface: I'm burning lots of oil, have lots of blow-by at WOT, had my car over 5 years, and ready for more fun!
I would love to make at least 475rwhp with lots of streetable torque. (Is this realistic?) I'm going to keep it all N/A, so I'd like to run as much compression as practical without worrying about running anything higher than pump gas.
I'm reading and reading, and think I want to go this route:
Lingenfelter 346 shortblock = ~$2000
AFR 225 Mongoose Heads = ~$2500
Cam Possibilities = looking for something that I can drive on the street, but it doesn't have to be "too friendly" I can put up with a fair amount of lope...
I'm a little concerned about going through valve springs also (but just a little!)....
Thunder Racing Custom "Reverse Split" Camshaft - 230/224 .575/.563 111
Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft - 236/230 .602/.575 112 LSA
G2 G5x2 Custom Cam 112 LSA, 232/240 Duration, 595/608 Lift
G2 G5x3 Custom Cam 112 LSA, 2??/2?? Duration, 600/610 Lift
OR have AFR recommend a cam?
I guess my biggest question is cam choice and any other pointers/suggestions would be great. Thanks! This is only place for good advice and I appreciate it.

You're talking more power than I make so I can't make a recommendation, but:
I went from a hotcam to a TR230/224. I can tell you that the idle quality, lope, and driveability in a 6-spd car are about the same with both cams (stock cubed) after idle tuning. Also, I started with 4.10 gears with the 230/224, then switched to 4.56 this past summer. I would do 4.56 again in a heartbeat (I don't "daily" drive it, but do drive it to work 90 mile round trip ~3 times a week spring/summer/fall). If you want the same idle qual as the hotcam, the tr230 is a good choice. Or go bigger if you're feeling more aggressive. Again, I would go 4.30 gear or bigger with either cam, I was worried that the 4.56s would be to steep for freeway cruising or around town part throttle, but they are great!
I like your idea of asking the head porter for a cam recommendation, or wait for someone else to prove a combo with 225 heads.
My 2 cents, Good Luck
