Default tea 1.5 Tr 224 dyno results

Just dynoed the SS today with the mods in my sig, with the stock tune. Got 374.4 rwhp and 366.1 rwtq through flowmaster muffler. Then took off the cut out and got 398.7 rwhp and 389.7 rwtq. Is this normal to loose that many horsepower through a muffler 24 hp What kind of number do u think i will get with a good tune? also i think im gonna swith out the muffler this week for a magnaflow. thanks

congrats.....

with a good tune you will probably see a good 12-15hp more. So figure about 420's with that mild setup.

My auto with the 224 .563 114 cam and TEA 1.5's made 399.9.. so figure if i had a M6 that the numbers woulda been about 420's

also, yes the muffler will kill HP bigtime with h/c! Most see about 15-20 gains by uncapping the cutout with H/C

Great number! Congrads! I have heard the the flowmaster cost you a lot of HP, but that does seem like a lot! Heads & cam really want a free flowing exhaust! It may not have cost you quite as much with stock heads & cam. The more mods you do, the more breathing the engine needs, especially with the heads!

Flowmaster will rob about as much HP as possible. The design isn't all that great.

good friend of mine(atvracer) also has a flowmaster and picked up a little over 20 hp uncapped but not all exhaust is restrictive, my magnaflow only lost about 2 hp compared to my cutout on the dyno but I dont like the raspy sound that goes along with it........

Yeah, that is why we beat the living **** out of them on a regular basis LOL

Maybe the overhead cam motor likes a little backpressure, who knows, I'm no Stang expert (but, I'm an expert at killing them )

Somebody should sticky this thread saying stay away from FLOWMASTER!!!! LOL

Nice gains and power numbers. My untuned TR224 @ Heads setup made 390rwhp untuned and Mikey was able to pull 416rwhp out of it after tuning. That's a 26rwhp gain with tuning. My numbers are through cats so with your ORY you should make more than me.

Flowmasters are OK if you get a straight in, straight out design like you'd run in a Mustang, but the crossflow design they use in the F-Bodies is absolute CRAP!

Nice numbers! What consists of stg1.5 TEAs? I hits VERY similar numbers, I was tuned though, with the TR224/114 and stock heads.. Id say, as mentioned, theres a lot left in tuning! What was your AF on that dyno run?

Also.. the dont call them BLOWmasters around here for nothing. I personally like Spintech mufflers, Sportsman Street series.

You have a flowcrapper and you wonder why it sucks?

Go search for "flowmaster sucks" and you'll see why everyone hates it.

It is more restrictive than a stock exhaust.

It actually costs you power, and as the power level rises, you lose even more.

Get that thing off of there!

Congratz on your numbers.

If your wanting to get a cheap exhaust that flows pretty well believe it or not the SS Dual/Dual (not stock SS) and the WS6 exhaust/muffler flow very well and are quiet......I know this 1st hand
