Default spun a bearing?

i was racing a 04 si last nite. when i was in third gear my tranny kicked it out of gear and i hit about 7000. i let off. well i was driving for a while then i felt it missing. i got new plugs and wires, (hopefully thats all). i havnt installed them yet. it drives fine with the exception that its missing. now knocking or griding of any sort.

any help is appreciated

also anyone know the gapping for plugs to an 99 camaro. ls1

may have bent some stock pushrods. This is pretty common when stock valvetrain is still there.

I would vote for a bent pushrod.

I spun bearing would give you a knocking noise and you would most likely see metal in your oil.

No difference in push rods between LS1 and LS6.

Any of the sponsors will be able to sell you hardened pushrods. All you need to swap them out is 8mm and 10mm sockets and a decent torque wrench. Even if you are slow and not 'mechanically inclined' it should only take you a couple hours at most.

All you have to do is pull the coil packs, valve covers, then the rockers. Yank out old (probably bent) pushrods and replace with hardened pushrods. It's really only a three beer job.

haha i like how you guys call a job by how many beers we can drink haha,
s10v8 when you remove the rockers and replace the pushrods, roll them on a flat surface to check for straightness, replace them with new hardened ones, and torque the ROCKERS to 22ft lbs, be sure to put locktite on these bolts as welll
as far as plug gap, if your all motor no spray put NGK TR55's at .050 ish
if you are spraying NGK TR6s at .035 ish

For me and the guys I hang out with everytime you pick up a wrench you have to drink a beer. I'm pretty sure it's hot rod law. If not, it should be. We've always judged a job by how many beers it will take. If there's enough of us together a spark plug change which is normally a one beer job can turn into a 12 beer job real quick.

You can always multiply the beers by two if you're an EOD guy.

so there is no adjusting the rockers to set the valves? just pull rockers off off, drop new pushrods in, throw rockers back on, tighten to 22ft/lbs and its done?

if i was to replace the lifters as well, would i just have to tighten the heads and everything to spec and be good to go?

sorry for semi hi-jacking yer thread, it applies to you too and nobody will respond with info in mine

You would definitely have bad metallic noises coming from your engine if you spun a rod bearing.

sucked how far into the engine? you'll be taking your intake manifold off only to take the heads off, it seems. I want to know how your pushrod got past (or even through) your lifter. It's not exactly a trivial piece to drop; can you take a few pictures?

It probably broke. Get a pen magnet and start fishing. You would have had to break the lifter to get the pushrod into the engine not to mention there wouldnt be much to salvage anyway at that point.
